Meet Ari, who found near-term stability and long-term excitement

It is past time to feature another Expander in this newsletter!

As a reminder, Expanders are other ambitious millennial women who are doing or making the choices that you want to. Expanders help you “see to believe” that what you want is possible.

In other words, they are role models on steroids

Expanders are extremely helpful every time you're ready to up-level or make a big shift in your life. Look for them within your professional network, friend group, social media or this community and then learn as much about their journey as possible. As you do, remind yourself “if they can do this, I can too.”

This fall has been fruitful for this community (we've had a lot of new jobs to celebrate in our alumni newsletter!), so I'm excited to share more Expanders with you all over the next few months.

Today's Expander is for anyone who has been feeling like…

  • Your current role just isn't “it”

  • You're in a period of major transition, and / or

  • You want to find out a career that feels truly aligned – both with who you are at your core and your priorities

You are going to be so inspired by Ari. Here is her journey…

Ari was in a state of transition when we started working together. She was about to become a new mom and was getting ready to leave her first post-MBA professional home.

These changes were thrilling (welcoming her son!) and unnerving (what was next?!).

Ari wanted to think expansively about her career.

She had been successful as an impact investor pre-MBA and as a start-up operator post-MBA, but still hadn’t found a path that was “it.”

As we dove into Ari’s Operating Principles and Strengths, we realized that her love for deep learning and human connection would be well-suited for therapy or academia.

Ari was intrigued and excited about those options. She felt relief seeing how she could use her natural strengths to deeply impact people.

However, Ari knew she wasn’t ready for a complete pivot right now.

She wanted to continue to learn from strong leaders, build career capital and maintain stability and flexibility for her family.

We created a near-term strategy to find growth strategy roles which would allow Ari to focus on the type of projects she enjoyed most in previous roles, harness her strengths and meet those priorities.

Ari quickly found the right role leading a growth initiative at a mental health start-up, working with an excellent manager, culture and work-life balance.

Ari is crystal-clear on what she needs right now professionally, and has an eye towards what she wants to do long-term – clarity that allows her to be present now, while building towards the future.

I hope you use Ari as an Expander or find your own for whatever inspiration you need this week. Let them help you “see to believe!”
